Let’s start with a striking fact: In a 2025 "Global Talent Shortage" overview, a staggering 86% of employers in Germany reported struggling to find qualified talent. Surprising, isn’t it? Especially when so many skilled professionals are actively seeking work. Yet, almost every coaching client or social media connection I meet shares the same frustration: "I’m not getting selected." "I can’t land the job I want." "I’m starting to question if my skills even matter."

On one side, recruiters can’t find the right people. On the other, candidates feel invisible. There’s a gap between the two—and here’s what I see: candidates often aren’t presenting themselves as the solution companies are searching for, and recruiters miss recognizing the perfect fit right in front of them.

This is actually good news. Companies need you just as much as you need them. The job search is always a two-way process.

If I had to sum up the ideal job search approach in one word, it would be sales. The company is your client. They have a problem—a role that needs to be filled. You have the product that solves it: your knowledge, skills, and expertise. Your mission? Show the right decision-maker why you’re the solution to their challenge.

From this angle, the process starts with clarity: define exactly what you offer, then understand what the market truly needs. That’s the work we dive into together in my coaching — helping you bridge that gap, tell your story, and become visible to those who need your talent most.

About Jenia

I've been a VP in AdTech, led a team at Apple in Berlin, and still ended up unemployed in Germany — wondering what I was actually good at.

So I did what I now help my clients do: figured out how to position myself and translate my experience for the German market.

Today I work as a Director at an advertising agency and run Expat Careers, a coaching program specifically for expats navigating the German job market.

With 10+ years in senior leadership and HR — on the hiring side — I know exactly what employers are looking for, and why talented expats keep getting overlooked.

I help you stop applying to everything and start landing the right roles — with a clear strategy, strong materials, and the confidence to sell yourself to the right people.

Coaching is available free through the AVGS voucher, or privately.
